Pre-Admission TestingThe Pre-Admission testing department is designed to prepare patients for elective surgery. Patients requiring this service are scheduled through their surgeon’s office, register with admitting and then meet with members of anesthesia staff, nursing and complete any necessary clinical testing prior to their scheduled surgery. Appointments generally take approximately 1 hour with day and evening appointments available. If pre-admission testing is not necessary, nursing staff from the department make every effort to conduct a phone interview prior to scheduled surgery. Please bring your health insurance cards and social security number to expedite your health insurance claims. To make your stay more comfortable, you will want to bring a comb, hairbrush, toothbrush, and other personal articles with you to the hospital. Although the hospital will provide a surgical gown, you may want to bring your own gown or pajamas, as well as a robe and slippers to wear as you recover. You also may want to keep a small amount of money with you to purchase items from our Gift Shop.
Valuables such as jewelry, rings, or large amounts of money should be left at home while you are hospitalized. If you have inadvertently brought objects of value to the hospital, we strongly encourage you to deposit them in the hospital vault for safekeeping. They will be returned to you when you are discharged. Your nurse will provide an envelope upon request for this purpose. We cannot be responsible for losses of valuables if they are not deposited in the vault. We also ask that you not bring medications to the hospital, although it will be helpful if you bring along a list of medications you are currently taking. For safety purposes, electrical appliances such as hair dryers, shavers, and radios may not be brought to the hospital.
Your room assignment is dependent upon available bed space and the reason for your hospitalization. We make every attempt to address any personal preferences you may have during your admission.
Upon your admission, an identification bracelet with your name and medical record number will be placed on your wrist. Please do not remove this bracelet until after your discharge.
