Back to May by Popular Demand 

24th Annual Event to take place May 31, 2009,
9:00 am to Noon, Holy Family Hospital

Community Encouraged to Participate in
Honor and Memory of Loved Ones 

March 13, 2009 - Methuen, Mass. — Holy Family Hospital today announced that its annual Care for Cancer Walk, a 3 mile walk/ run, will return to May this year.

Last year, more than 600 individuals from the Merrimack Valley and southern New Hampshire participated in this event, which raised more than $100,000 for the William L. Lane Cancer Center. Funds support the purchase of new technology and equipment – like the newly established Lung Clinic and the Trilogy Stereotactic System - which enable our team of caregivers to continue providing advanced diagnostic and treatment options for patients, close to home.
 
Individuals, families, local businesses and non-profit organizations are encouraged to participate in this community event. Any local non-profit organization that forms a team and walks will receive 40% of the total money they raise for their organization. 

“This is a special event for our community, the patients and families we serve. We are pleased to be able to use the monies raised to advance cancer care in the Merrimack Valley,” said Catherine Philbin, Director of Development at Holy Family Hospital. “And, it’s equally rewarding to be able to give back to the non-profit organizations that contribute to this cause, especially in the current economic environment. Our collective efforts impact the health and well-being of our community.” 

Sunday, May 31 - 9:00 am to Noon

Registration:
$20 registration fee for participants over the age of 12. Children 12 and under walk free. All participants are requested to check in on the day of the walk beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital.

Walk Start Time and Route: 
10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital, travels onto East Street through Methuen, and concludes back at the Hospital.

Incentives: 
Registered walkers will enjoy a family BBQ, music and children’s activities. Cancer survivors will receive a special survivor t-shirt.
