The Occupational Health Center at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center is a comprehensive occupational health and wellness service clinic.  The Center provides a full range of health promotion and prevention services as well as phenomenal treatment and care to employers and employees.

The Occupational Health Center at is dedicated to providing uncompromising healthcare with accessible hospital-based specialty care services that meet the needs of employers, employees and their families.  The Center has been providing expert care for work-related injuries and illnesses in and around the Boston area since 1991.

Our Specialists

The Occupational Medicine and Travel Health Programs are staffed by board-certified occupational medicine specialists and travel health professionals.

Occupational Medicine Services

In addition to the numerous occupational health services outlined below, the Center also provides rehabilitation services, substance abuse services, screening clinics and specialty services.

  • Audiometry

  • Worksite Programs: Back injury prevention, body mechanics/ergonomic assessments, company health and safety workplace audits

  • Blood Borne Pathogen Exposures preventive programs

  • Entry, Return to Work, Fitness for Duty, Second Opinion, IME, Executive, DOT evaluations

  • Worker’s Comp Case Management Services

  • Consultations- Workplace safety

  • Environmental exposures: chemical, allergic, airborne

  • Regulatory exams: lead, noise, asbestos

  • Respirator clearance/fit testing, pulmonary function testing

  • TB testing and screening


What to do if an Injury Occurs at Work

If an injury occurs at work, the employee should immediately notify his or her supervisor and come to either our Center or the nearest Emergency Department depending on the extent of the injury.

Center hours of operation: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Thursday from 7 a.m.  -  12 p.m.  Appointments are preferred. If a patient is en-route, please call 617-789-2430. If the employee is unable to drive, an ambulance should be called.

After-hour patients should be sent to St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department.  The employee should inform the Emergency Department that his/her employer receives services from St. Elizabeth's Occupational Health Center.

How to Receive Emergency Care

St. Elizabeth’s Occupational Health Center and Emergency  Department work together to provide the highest level of patient care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Employer should call 911 and have an ambulance transport the injured employee directly to St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department or the nearest emergency department.

  • Employer should call the Occupational Health Center at 617-789-2430 and inform the Center of the situation.

  • Should the employee need to go to another hospital's emergency department, the Center should be notified as soon as possible.
