Focusing on both physical and emotional healing, we have earned an Approval with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer—awarded only to select hospitals providing the highest quality, state-of-the-art, cancer care.
At St. Elizabeth’s, cancer patients are efficiently diagnosed, informed of all appropriate options, and treated by multidisciplinary, collaborative teams of highly-trained specialists. All of our physicians are board-certified faculty members of the Tufts University School of Medicine. Several have been named best in their fields by Boston Magazine and have regional and national reputations for their expertise in clinical care and research.
They are expert at diagnosing and treating early- to -late stage breast, lung, colorectal, prostate blood and other malignancies using digital mammography, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), PET/CT, radiofrequency ablation, radioactive seed implants, plasma exchange and other highly sophisticated techniques.
Patients also benefit from the opportunity to participate in clinical trials of leading edge, innovative therapies. These trials range from large, multi-site trials to small trials initiated by St. Elizabeth’s own cancer experts, several of whom play leadership roles in developing National Cancer Institute (NCI) protocols. St. Elizabeth’s maintains a clinical trials office devoted entirely to initiating and managing nearly two-dozen cancer trials, all of which follow strict Institutional Review Board guidelines.
Our multidisciplinary medical teams work closely together and with patients, families, and referring and primary care doctors in making and carrying out treatment decisions.
But what truly sets St. Elizabeth’s apart is that all of our staff members—from data-technicians and housekeepers to the most senior doctors and administrators—are dedicated to treating patients expeditiously, personally, and kindly. Our goal is to provide every patient with the most effective treatment and the best hospital experience possible.
