About Us | Senior Leadership Team
St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center is a community-based 317-bed tertiary care hospital located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston. Recognized throughout the region for delivering exceptional patient care in a compassionate environment, St. E’s is a thoroughly modern inpatient and outpatient facility that is also a teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine.
The hospital began in 1868 when five laywomen members of the third order of St. Francis founded St. Elizabeth's as a hospital dedicated to the care of women from Boston's South End. Today, St. E’s, as we are affectionately called, has evolved into a full-service facility that offers sophisticated and comprehensive medical care to women, men and families.

Our dedication to providing the highest quality of care to our patients and our community is consistently recognized with many of the regions most prestigious awards, including the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, the Thompson 100 top hospital performance improvement leader and the Premier/care Science Practice National Quality Award.
