Coding

Coding professionals work closely with other members of the health information systems departments in health services organizations. Graduates of the coding certificate program are eligible for examination by AHIMA to earn the designation of certified coding specialist (CCS).

Semester I:  Fall 6 Credits

Semester II: Winter 6 credits

HIT102 Introduction to the Study of Disease II (2 credits)
MET102 Medical Terminology II (1 credit)
HIT136 Classification (Coding) II (3 credits)

Semester III: Spring/Summer 8 credits

HIT107 Pharmacology and Pathophysiology (2 credits)
HIT140 Billing and Reimbursement for Healthcare Professionals (2 credits)
ANA101 Anatomy and Physiology (4 credits)

Total Credits: 20

Career courses must be taken in conjunction with their clinical components in the sequence shown. Many students choose to enroll in General education requirements prior to the start of their career sequence since they are offered throughout the academic year. A program of study that fits your personal and academic needs will be developed for you to meet the requirements for the program.
