Emergency Care at Holy Family Hospital

Holy Family offers quality emergency treatment for injured patients, with a team of highly-trained emergency physicians, nurses and staff.   Our emergency department sees some 40,000 patients annually, providing immediate access to advanced medical treatment in the event of a serious injury or accident. There are transfer protocols to Boston Pediatric and Adult Trauma Centers for those patients requiring more intensive trauma care.

Fast-Track Program for Rapid Treatment of Minor Injuries

From 11 a.m-11 p.m. everyday, Holy Family provides fast-track access to our emergency department for minor injuries or illnesses.  This minimizes the wait time for many patients and offers faster access to the care you need when you need it.

New England Regional Stroke Center

Holy Family is home to one of the area’s only facilities specifically dedicated to stroke patients. In collaboration with New England Neurological Associates, The New England Regional Stroke Center is part of a larger network created by the National Stroke Association.
Our team of trained specialists work together with each patient to diagnose stroke conditions or identify alternate causes, identify type, location, and severity of a stroke, reduce the risk of complications or recurrence, and coordinate a rehabilitation plan.

At the earliest sign of a stroke, visit the Emergency Department immediately.

Community Outreach

An overwhelming majority of injuries are preventable. At Holy Family, we have worked to build a formal injury prevention outreach initiative targeted at high-risk groups. Programs we have offered include Pre-Prom Safe Driving Presentations, Bike and Helmet Safety presentations, and Driving Safety Program for 9th grade classes.
