Birthing Center: Online Class Registration

At Caritas Holy Family Hospital we offer a variety of educational classes for pre- and post-pregnancy. A description of each class is included below.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Lamaze Childbirth Education Package

Our Lamaze program will prepare you and your labor coach for the big day. Our childbirth educator will discuss philosophy and fundamentals of birth, relaxation, breathing techniques, comfort measures, positions for labor, medications, anesthesia, pushing, delivery, medical interventions, Cesarean-section, mock labor, postpartum "baby blues" and other topics. She also gives you a tour of the Birthing Center. 

The Lamaze program includes Baby Care Basics and Breasfeeding classes at no extra charge. Lamaze classes are limited to between 8 and 10 couples.

All Caritas Holy Family Hospital Lamaze Childbirth Educators are nationally certified by either Lamaze International (ICCE) or the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA).

Baby Care Basics

This two hour class, led by a nurse and a pediatrician, focuses on the care of a newborn child. It is open to mothers as well as grandparents and other relatives who will be caring for the newborn baby.

Breastfeeding

This class provides instruction and support in breastfeeding and is geared to mothers who want to breastfeed and to those undecided. The class is taught by a Certified Lactation Consultant. In this class, you will learn the principles of breastfeeding, its benefits, weaning and the transition back to work.

Breastfeeding Support Group
For a list of meeting dates, please click here.
This is an informal mother's support group for all breastfeeding moms and their babies. A lactation consultant will be available to answer all your questions and concerns. Registration is not required.

Sibling Preparation Class

This class prepares children for the new addition to the family and describes their upcoming role as a big brother or a big sister. The children are given a tour, shown a video and have the opportunity to try their hands at diapering and feeding their “favorite baby”. This program is offered every other month to children three years of age and older. A parent is required to accompany the child.

CPR For Friends and Family

In this three-hour class, taught by an American Heart Association instructor, you will learn CPR for infants (children under the age of one) and how to help an infant who is choking.  A safety presentation is also provided. Have the satisfaction of knowing your infants are safe. Our gift shop carries "Family and Friend CPR Anytime", a self-directed, personal CPR kit that makes learning the core skills of CPR easy, convenient and affordable.
