Interpreters


Caritas Carney offers translation and interpreter services for non-English
speaking patients. The hospital has on-staff interpreters who speak the following
languages: Cape Verdean Creole, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish
and Vietnamese. Caritas Carney also employs bilingual staff who speak over
twelve languages. Over-the-phone interpretation services are available as needed
in 140 languages through the Language Line. Certified American Sign Language
Interpreters are available through the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf
and Hard of Hearing.

Social Work


Socials workers have many roles at Caritas Carney Hospital, but their primary goal is to enhance the well-being of the total person.  They strive to maintain the dignity and confidentiality of our patients, while providing crisis intervention, counseling, and information and referral services that are responsive to the needs of the patients and their families.

Social workers are available to speak with you regarding any concerns, fears or stresses that may impact your health, hospitalization or recovery.  If you or a member of your family would like to speak with a social worker, please contact the social work department at  617-506-4800.
